Proposed Design Methods for Timber Members Subjected to Blast Loads

چکیده
Current blast design provisions for wood members are limited and may unintentionally lead to designs that too conservative or not sufficiently safe. Novel methodologies the of light-frame stud walls, glulam members, as well cross-laminated timber (CLT) panels subjected loads proposed verified with published experimental full-scale test results. Additionally, static dynamic tests were conducted part this study augment data, thereby helping provide specific parameters modeling methodologies. Key such increase factors, ductility ratios, resistance curves evaluated purpose establishing accurate representative methods. The peak member maximum midspan displacements used performance metrics verify accuracy analysis method results obtained from methods shown establish overall behavior reasonable accuracy, while correctly predicting governing failure mode. current also key shortcomings highlighted. general considerations connections introduced discussed in paper.

MINIMUM WEIGHT AND DRIFT DESIGN OF STEEL MOMENT FRAMES SUBJECTED TO BLAST
Design of blast resistant structures is an important subject in structural engineering, attracting the attention of governments, researchers, and engineers. Thus, given the benefits of optimization in engineering, development and assessment of optimization methods for optimum design of structures against blast is of great importance. In this research, multi-objective optimization of steel momen...
متن کاملinvestigating the feasibility of a proposed model for geometric design of deployable arch structures
deployable scissor type structures are composed of the so-called scissor-like elements (sles), which are connected to each other at an intermediate point through a pivotal connection and allow them to be folded into a compact bundle for storage or transport. several sles are connected to each other in order to form units with regular polygonal plan views. the sides and radii of the polygons are...
Frictional systems subjected to oscillating loads
If a discrete elastic system with frictional interfaces is subjected to periodic loading, the eventual steady-state response may depend on the initial condition or an initial transient phase of the loading history. In cases where shakedown is possible, it is known that it will occur for all initial conditions if there is no coupling between slip displacements and normal contact tractions, but t...
متن کاملAlternative Methods of Data Capture for Glass Subjected to Long-duration Blast Loading
The air blast tunnel (ABT) at MoD Shoeburyness is a unique testing facility capable of simulating pressure regimes recorded in long-duration blast events. Long-duration blasts are typically defined by a positive phase duration greater than 100ms, observed in the far field of large explosions. Due to its highly brittle nature, glass panels require high-speed data capture to provide reliable engi...
